Dj Kool Herc - The Father of Hip Hop

I had some tech issues that kept me from posting this sooner, so this is WAY overdue. DJ Kool Herc is a living legend. He INVENTED and ORIGINATED hip hop. He is a hero and an elder who deserves the utmost respect. While DJ's were mixing disco in the 70's, Kool Herc used turntables to mix and loop the parts of songs where the singing and chorus took a break and gave the dope beat time to shine, aka the breakbeat. Anyone who samples beats with any experience knows that you can often find the dopest samples in the breaks. Party people were really feeling Herc's extended mixes of breakbeats. Break dancers (also called B-Boys and B-Girls) danced to the beat-heavy mixes while Kool Herc hyped the crowd, just as many DJ's still do to this day. He originated and invented the art of hip hop DJing and rapping, and inspired the style of break dancing that, together, are the 3 musical elements out of the 4 elements of hip hop culture. Hip hop saved my life, and some of the best relationships I've been fortunate enough to be a part of were forged with Hip Hop as a common bond. Thank you, DJ Kool Herc, for this incredible gift to the world, and for reaching out to a lifelong fan. You made my day! You made my month, my year, and my life too! YOU MADE HIP HOP!!!
