Dj Kool Herc - The Father of Hip Hop

@Regrann from @intelisenseclothing - Clive Campbell (born April 16 1955), better known by his stage name DJ Kool Herc, is credited for originating hip hop music in the early 1970s in The Bronx, New York City. He was the first of six children born to Keith and Nettie Campbell in Kingston, Jamaica. While growing up, he saw and heard the sound systems of neighbourhood parties called "dancehalls", and the accompanying speech of their DJs, known as "toasting". He emigrated with his family at the age of 12 to the Bronx, New York in November 1967. His playing of hard funk records of the sort typified by James Brown was an alternative both to the violent gang culture of the Bronx and to the popularity of disco in the 1970s. #knowledge #consciouswear #pride #power #strength #Fashion #conscious #Deep #Intelligence #Kingston #CivilRights #FightThePower #Babylon #Politics #Power #Iloveknowledge #staywoke #thirdeye #positiveenergy #SelfDefense #Trinidad #Jamaica #Haiti #America #wearwhatyouwanttoattract #djkoolherc #hiphop #blackhistory #blackhistorymonth #blackhistory365
